Sound Quality is simply the quality of sound within a room as it pertains to the amount of echo/reverberation that occurs. The higher the echo/reverberation, the less comfortable the room becomes from a “noise” standpoint and the less able we are to understand what is being said by a person or people in the room.
Sound Quality is improved by understanding the NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) of various construction and acoustic materials within a room and the resultant RT (Reverberation Time) with other considerations such as the sound frequency curve, the shape of the room, and the room’s intended use.
Sound Quality is a design consideration in rooms as small as bathrooms and offices and as large as gyms, pools, arenas, and musical venues.
